"Sticks and stones may break your bones, but words will never hurt you."
Sorry, but this statement stands corrected: words can hurt.
Whether its a poem, poster or post; a classic ode or computer code; the letters, language and symbols we use to communicate can be inspiring, enlightening and revelatory, or they can demean, deflate and feed fear, despair and all that is not the better angels of our nature.
From sharing poetry and writing for purposeful organizations and nonprofits, to creating communication concepts and leading workshops, Armstrong Words is here to employ language in ways that make a powerful and positive difference. Armstrong Words offers:
• Poems and other messages that shed light on the issues of our time — be they social, environmental, personal or political
• Creative thinking Wordshops that help organizations unearth and tap into their true voice and vocabulary, leading to innovation, compassion and healthy communication internally and externally
• Teaching creative writing, creative thinking and poetry
A short bit about me: I am a published poet, have taught creative writing and creative thinking at the college level and have an MA in Creative Writing/Poetry from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
